Foreword II

A Message from the Keystone Agricultural Producers (KAP)

Manitoba’s agriculture sector has been built upon the shoulders of giants. We owe much to the people that have come before us. We’ve moved from walking along the soil, throwing seed into the ground, while tending small livestock herds, to modern farm operations that are on the cutting edge of technology.

Agriculture in Manitoba has come a long way over time. Being able to reflect on the previous 150 years allows us to bring forward the lessons of history. Throughout this time agriculture has defined Manitoba’s people and has been the backbone of the province’s economy.

This story pays tribute to the voices and forces that have shaped Manitoba’s agriculture and the province itself.

Thank you to the many people and organizations who have contributed to this story.
